Report: Patriots Showing Interest In Free Agent Quarterback

The New England Patriots need a replacement for Tom Brady, and they are interested in a free-agent quarterback.

Brady will enter free agency in March, and he can easily leave the team. New England has yet to find a replacement for Brady. The Patriots need him to win a title. Brady can’t leave the team at this point. New England failed to replace Rob Gronkowski. Brady’s departure doesn’t fit Belichick’s winning scenario.

Will the Patriots use well the free agent quarterback?

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reported that the Patriots may try to get Marcus Mariota. Will they sign the free agent this offseason?

Pauline also reported that Mariota may sign the Indianapolis Colts.

“Keep this in the back of your mind – with all the uncertainty surrounding Tom Brady, the New England Patriots are showing interest in soon to be free-agent quarterback Marcus Mariota. The former first-round pick is being courted by several teams who may have an open competition at quarterback. I’m told the Indianapolis Colts have also shown interest in Mariota – just in case.”

The Tennessee Titans selected Mariota as a No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft. The former Heisman winner had a lot of health issues. His performance was awful. In 2019, Mariota had a few awful performances, and he became a backup quarterback.

Head coach Bill Belichick probably likes the free agent. He will have to play well this time. In his five-year career, Mariota recorded 62.9 percent of his passes for 13,207 yards and 76 touchdowns. The quarterback averages 5.8 yards per rush for 1,399 career rushing yards in five campaigns.

When it comes to Brady, he may sign with the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders or Indianapolis Colts. Brady will soon meet with the teams. Gronk advised Brady to test his free agency. If Belichick doesn’t give him a nice offer, Brady will definitely go somewhere else. Will Brady go to Las Vegas? His wife, Gisele, doesn’t know anything about Brady’s next move either.
