Spike Lee Honors Kobe Bryant With Incredible Custom Tuxedo

We all know that Spike Lee is a Knicks fan. However, he knows how to honor a great player. The director did something good on Sunday in Hollywood. Spike Lee wore a purple and gold custom tuxedo in honor of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. This gesture was his way of honoring the memory of Bryant. The Lakers legend lost his life in a helicopter crash last month.

Lee wore his custom tuxedo on the red carpet ahead of the Academy Awards. This was an incredible tribute to the Black Mamba. The piece featured the Lakers’ colorway and also had one of Bryant’s numbers on the lapels. The number was also added to the back of Lee’s tux.

Lee decided to put aside his love for the Knicks. Honoring Bryant was more important. He was one of the best players in the NBA. The Oscar-winning director is a vocal fan of basketball. His 1998 movie “He Got the Game” is actually a classic basketball film. It starred Ray Allen and Denzel Washington.

Lee and Bryant shared other interests too. Let’s not forget that Bryant is an Oscar-winner. He took an Academy Award for his 2018 short film titled “Dear Basketball.” The Academy honored Bryant in the Memoriam section of the show.

Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven others died in a tragic crash in Los Angeles on January 26. The Black Mamba died at 41, and the world will always remember him as one of the best players the game has ever seen. Numerous athletes, celebrities and fans paid tribute in their own way. Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis got a tattoo in honor of the Black Mamba. Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Shareef, got a tattoo, too.

LeBron held a special speech for his friend prior to the first game his team played since Kobe’s death. It was a speech full of emotions, and it made us cry. Everyone cried. Vanessa plans to organize a memorial for Kobe on Feb. 24. She lost her husband and daughter, and needs all the support she can get at this moment. We send our thoughts and prayers.
