Watch: LeBron James Eats Red Vines From Fan After 40-Point Game

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday at Staples Center, and it was a beautiful 118-109 win for the team. Lakers players had great success against Anthony Davis’ former team. LeBron James celebrated the 40-point game with some red vines he got from a fan.

The king of basketball scored 40 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Davis had a 21-point, 14-rebound, six-block game last night. Danny Green scored 17 points, and had 5 rebounds and four assists. LeBron scored 16 of his 40 in the third quarter before helping his team outscore the Pelicans 30-23 in the fourth to cement the nine-point win.

Former Laker, Brandon Ingram, led the Pelicans with 34 points. Zion Williamson had 29, and this was his very first game against King James.

A beautiful 40-point game

The Lakers have a 44-12 record at this point. This was their sixth straight and eighth in nine contests. LeBron, Davis and the rest of the guys lead the Western Conference by five games over the second-place Denver Nuggets.

New Orleans has won five of the last six games. Davis’ former team has a 25-33 record at this point. The team sits 3.5 contests behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth and final West playoff position.

The first game between the GOAT and one of the league’s all-time talented rookies on Zion Williamson was great. Both players went “blow for blow” before LA pulled out away late in the fourth quarter. The night belonged to King James. His season-high 40 points came on 17-of-27 shooting (5-of-11 from three-point range).

LeBron’s best individual highlight happened in the second quarter with his poster dunk on Josh Hart. His efforts in the third quarter made a difference.

The Pelicans ended the first half on a 12-6 run to go within 64-58 at halftime. The pressure was still present in the third, and Lonzo Ball opened it with a nice three-pointer. LeBron took over from that point, and went on a personal 11-0 run to turn a 64-61 edge into a good 75-61 lead.
