Duron Harmon Shares Touching Tribute To Patriots Nation

The New England Patriots are all in when it comes to making changes. The team has lost several players in free agency, including quarterback Tom Brady. Duron Harmon is the last player to leave the storied organization. New England agreed to trade Duron Harmon to the Detroit Lions right before the beginning of the new league year. The information was first reported by NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Both sides will exchange late-round picks while the Patriots move on from the 29-year-old safety’s impending cap number of $5.75 million.

Harmon took to his Instagram account to say his last goodbye. Quarterback Tom Brady popped in the comments section.

Harmon’s deal goes through the 2020 season. The contract will go through a Detroit organization led by former Patriots director of pro scouting Bob Quinn. Former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is also there.

Duron Harmon joins other Patriots players

Duron is the third player to leave New England and join the Lions since the legal-tampering period started. He trails linebacker Jamie Collins’ reported three-year, $30 million deal and defensive tackle Danny Shelton’s reported two-year, $8 million deal.

The safety will join a roster that also includes past Patriots in Frank Herron, John Atkins, Trey Flowers, Christian Sam and Justin Coleman on the defensive side of the ball.

The 29-year-old safety is a veteran of seven seasons with the Patriots. He originally entered the league as a third-round draft pick (91st overall) out of Rutgers in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder saw actions in three Super Bowl Championships with the Patriots. He played in 111 regular-season games with 29 starts and has registered 171 tackles, 17 interceptions for 193 yards, 28 passes defended, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries. Harmon also played 17 postseason contests with six starts and has accumulated 15 tackles, four interceptions for 39 yards and five passes defended.

New England lost a lot of valuable players this offseason. How will head coach Bill Belichick replace Brady, Harmon and the rest of the guys?
