Just In: NBA Could Continue In Bahamas

The NBA suspended the 2019-20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, officials may have a solution to the situation. The NBA may take the regular season to the Bahamas.

NBA officials continue investigating alternative paths on the way forward. Brian Windhorst from the ESPN has an update. The league has considered Las Vegas casinos, college campuses in the midwest US and of course, the Bahamas. Several players and NBA execs have come up with a few ideas.

Bad Boy Mowers will present the men’s tournament. It will host the 10th edition. It’s a three-day event. Eight teams will take part in the event. ESPN will broadcast it. The event will feature the top field of every early-season NCAA tournament.

The Duke Blue Devils will join the tournament. They are tournament champions. Their role will spice things up. The organizations will expand this year. They plan to introduce the inaugural B4A Women’s Tournament.

The Atlantis has hosted the Miami Heat to training camp twice. This Baha Mar Resort converts the convention center ballroom into a full-sized regulation court. They hosted Division I college basketball with the last inaugural edition of the Bahamas Hoopfest. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets had practice sessions in the same facility.

NBA may go to the Bahamas

The Bahamas Basketball Federation has hosted the Summer of Thunder Series for ten years at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium. They host NCAA Division I programs against local organizations. Players have also taken part in regional FIBA events.

The NBA will have to think of a solution as the situation with the coronavirus hasn’t changed a lot. The regular season was suspended on March 11. This happened right after Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz tested positive. He received the results right before the game between his team and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Chinese Basketball Association may be the first to resume games. They have been dealing with the virus on January 24. US players returned to the country and stayed in quarantine prior to training camp.
