Lakers’ Danny Green Issues Strong Statement About Rudy Gobert’s Coronavirus Diagnosis

Rudy Gobert was the first NBA player to test positive for COVID-19. His positive results led to suspension for the next 30 days. Gobert has quickly become one of the most criticized players in the history of sports. Of course, the whole thing could have gone unnoticed, but Gobert decided to make a mockery. It ended up with another positive result. Gobert’s carelessness infected a teammate. Donovan Mitchell has the virus, too. The entire Utah Jazz team is in quarantine. Lakers veteran Danny Green sees coronavirus differently.

The entire NBA is shut down now. How will everyone react to Gobert once things get back to normal? Many players blamed him for his attitude. However, the Lakers veteran didn’t judge the player.

“People are blaming him for a lot of things, when obviously he was a little careless at times, but who’s to say that’s necessarily the reason why that’s happened? He probably should have been more careful, but it’s not all his fault,” Green said. “Mind you, you got to look at the positive of things. This was gonna happen regardless of whether it was gonna happen to him or somebody else. Somebody in the NBA was gonna catch the virus and give us a wakeup call … I don’t think he should be blamed or bashed as much as he is. I mean, it could happen to anybody.”

Danny Green offers a different perspective on coronavirus

Green’s comments provided a different perspective. Gobert isn’t a patient zero for the virus. It was bound to start spreading at some point. Gobert acted as a catalyst in the process.

Mitchell joined Gobert as one of the two players on the Utah Jazz who got the virus. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix reported that Mitchell is frustrated with his teammate. They were really close before the outbreak. According to Mannix, this may affect the season for the team.

“How Mitchell responds when play resumes could make or break their relationship, sources familiar with the locker room dynamic told SI.com.”

Of course, Mitchell has 30 days to think of his attitude. We understand his frustration with Gobert. He was careless, and Mitchell has every right to act that way.
