Lakers Veteran Shares Revealing Information About NBA Suspension

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver confirmed the league’s decision to suspend the regular season. Players won’t hit the court in the next 30 days. Silver didn’t provide any information on the post-suspension period. The NBA suspension was the right thing to be done because at least two players have the virus. Lakers veteran player Jared Dudley said they plan to resume the season from where it left off.

“What I do know, and this is through stuff we’ve had — it’s on the table that the owners want to finish the regular season and [playoffs],” the veteran told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Thursday. “I got confirmation that they have no problem going late into the summer to finish it up.”

The sports world still tries to determine the next few steps. We’ve never seen anything like the coronavirus outbreak. It looks like things won’t change much outside of the dates games are played. According to some, NBA officials should shorten the regular season. However, the NBA is probably interested in finishing out the games. Dudley provided an interesting take, and maybe officials should take that into consideration.

The NBA suspension affects the Olympics

Regular seasons end up in June. That may not be the case this season. The Olympics will take place in Tokyo this summer, but Dudley believes that could be pushed back.

“That’s the word I think the NBA is getting that they’re gonna postpone it till 2021,” he said.

A lot of NBA will play in the Summer Olympics. If they still play NBA games, things will change. Maybe the Olympics will be postponed. LA has seven finalists to enter the Olympics basketball roster.

The Lakers are one of the most storied teams this season. They sit on top of the Western Conference. Dudley explained what his Lakers go through at the moment.

“There’s a lot of stuff that’s kind of day-by-day,” he said. “But for sure, we’ve been on a roll and we’ve been playing at such a high level. Obviously your health is first, your family is first but I think every player wants to finish this season.”

This will be a tough month for every team. The Lakers got really close to the playoffs.
