NFL Writer Identifies One Patriots Free Agent Who Could Be Overpriced

The New England Patriots may lose 19 players in free agency. According to an NFL writer, one Patriots player may actually be an overpriced free agent.

There’s a really good chance for Joe Thuney to become one of the best paid offensive linemen whenever he inks “the dotted line.” Devin McCourty also may be in line for the final great contract of his professional career. Let’s not forget that Tom Brady may also enter the free agency.

Jamie Collins may also get a thick paycheck. NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal doesn’t really think that the veteran linebacker is worth it.

“Collins already failed to make an impact the last time he left New England,” Rosenthal wrote. “After a quietly disappointing end to his return to Foxborough on a one-year deal last season, teams have to worry about how consistent Collins will be, play to play and week to week.”

Is the NFL ready for the Patriots and their free agent?

It’s really hard to imagine Collins back in New England for the 2020 season. Even if he doesn’t get a fancy deal, his performance in the 2019 campaign likely will earn him a contract outside of the Patriots’ price range. Maybe the veteran will join New Orleans. The Saints have shown interest in his talent. Collins may talk to teams around the league March 16 when the league’s official tampering period starts. The official start of free agency will take place two days later.

Brady is the biggest name on the market at this point. The 42-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

Several names have been linked to TB12. The Patriots are frontrunners in the process. The Tennessee Titans have shown interest in the quarterback. This also applies to the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders. The Tampa Bay Packers have also shown interest in the GOAT. Where will Brady go in September? He will have to make a decision these days.

Brady enjoys his family vacation at the moment. This will give him plenty of time to make the right decision. Hopefully, Brady will stay with the Patriots for the upcoming season.
