Report: Lakers Open To Add Another Shooter After Signing Dion Waiters

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t need an extra hand this season. The team resisted the urge to add a new player to the roster. Superstar LeBron James said that the team doesn’t need new players because they work perfectly together. The Lakers decided to add another player to the roster. Dion Waiters joined Markieff Morris. NBA Insider Shams Charania reported that the Lakers may make another move ahead of the NBA playoffs.

“The Lakers are still holding out the option to potentially add a shooter down the line,” Charania said. “They worked out J.R. Smith as well on Monday, but in Waiters, there’s some familiarity. Rob Pelinka was his agent prior to Waiters joining the Lakers in the front office.”

The Lakers keep their options moving forward, and they may sign J.R. Smith. To do this, the team will have to waive another player to make enough room on the roster.

Who is joining Dion Waiters?

Los Angeles worked out Smith on the same day they brought in Waiters. Waiters made an impression. What about Smith? The Lakers didn’t say too much about his workout. We don’t know whether he impressed head coach Frank Vogel. Was he good enough for the team to sign him?

We can just wait and see what happens next in LA. The Lakers may sign Smith or another shooter from the open market. The team is now focused on the game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks. The Los Angeles Clippers are next on the list.

Both title-contending teams have defeated King James and his teammates earlier in the season. However, LeBron and his team defeated every other team at least once. LeBron and Anthony Davis make the most brilliant duo in the league this season. Things can easily change overnight. LeBron may find the right way to defeat Antetokounmpo. He has more experience and also has the best passing skills. LeBron and Giannis are part of the NBA MVP debate this season. There’s split opinion between NBA analysts, and we can’t really make a prediction on the further development of events. Will LeBron snatch the big award this season?
