Report: One Team Goes Out Of The Race For Signing Tom Brady

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will enter the open market on March 18. Several teams have shown interest in him, including the Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders. According to the latest reports, the Titans are out of the race for snatching Tom Brady. The information was confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He reported that the Titans plan to sign quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a multi-year contract extension. This prevents the team from using the franchise tag on the quarterback.

This comes after Dianna Russini’s report on the case. According to this report, the Titans aren’t interested in TB12.

Tannehill was brilliant in the 2019 season. However, the Titans had been considered one of the favorites to sign Brady. This would have happened if he and New England had not reached an agreement. Brady is really with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. They were teammates in New England. The Titans also have the roster talent Brady needs to compete for a Super Bowl in 2020.

Tennessee won’t take part in the race for signing Tom Brady

Vrabel and general manager Jon Robinson provided vague answers that fueled the speculations,

“We’ll see how it goes,” Robinson said last month at the NFL Scouting Combine. “(Tannehill) is under contract here for the next few weeks, and he did a great job for us. We’ll start those talks and see where those go, just like all the other (free agents).”

Tannehill boosted his career in 2019. He had a mediocre six-year stint with the Miami Dolphins. Tannehill replaced Marcus Mariota in Week 6, and led the NFL in passer rating and yards per attempt. He also won nine of his 13 starts. This includes a wild-card round defeat of the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Tennessee made the AFC Championship Game as a No. 6 seed. They lost to the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs.

If the Titans leave the race, the list of potential destinations shrinks to the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers. NFL teams will be able to begin negotiating with TB12 at noon ET on Monday. The NFL free agency officially opens at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
