Report: Patriots Re-Signed Oft-Injured Edge Rusher Ahead Of Free Agency

The New England Patriots lost Tom Brady in free agency. Although the team is left without a star quarterback, head coach Bill Belichick is packing the team with talents. This time the team added another player in free agency. Belichick won’t give up on his title that easily.

According to several reports, the New England Patriots reportedly have retained their lowest-profile free agent. Edge rusher Keointa Davis, an exclusive-rights free agent, has re-signed a contract with the team. The information was confirmed in Mike Reiss’ a report Tuesday night. Davis played in just six games since joining the organization as an undrafted rookie in 2017.

Davis spent his rookie campaign on the non-football injury list due to a bulging disc in his neck. He was limited in 2018, and sat out 10 games as a healthy scratch.

The team waived him an injury designation last August, but they put him on injured reserve. Davis spent the entire 2019 season there.

The Patriots have a challenging free agency

The 26-year-old Chattanooga player will have to compete for a spot on Belichick’s roster this summer. New England also agreed to terms with former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Damiere Byrd on Tuesday.

In other words, Belichick is trying to revamp the roster after losing Brady. It will be hard for him to build a strong roster. Brady is gone. Without him, the head coach will have hard time winning championships. Brady was a leading force in Foxboro, and now he is taking his talents somewhere else.

Brady and TB12 couldn’t reach an agreement, and the GOAT will probably sign a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This comes as a surprise, because they aren’t contenders. Well, Brady will definitely bring championship pedigree to the team. He has won six Super Bowls and the Buccaneers can easily use his talent to jump higher on the list. Let’s see what happens by the end of the free agency. Who is the next to come to Foxboro? We have a few ideas. Belichick will need superstars. Will New England have enough money to bring superstars in Foxboro? Belichick always has a backup plan.
