Watch: Kobe Bryant’s Incredible Reaction When High School Rival Said His Team Could Contain Him Before The Game

Lakers legend Kobe Bryant lost his life on Jan. 26, but the world will remember him as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. The 18-time NBA All-Star won five championships during his 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe defeated each rival on his way to the title. He died in a helicopter crash Sunday at 41. He was traveling with his daughter Gianna and seven others.

Numerous athletes paid tributes to the Black Mamba. We saw a lot of videos showing his greatness. In a recently released video, we can see Kobe’s reaction to comments made by a high school rival.

“Kobe Bryant’s high school rival said that they could contain him before the game, Kobe’s reaction when finding out is incredible,” the caption read.

Bryant enjoyed one of the best careers in league history. He became one of the game’s most storied players as the leader of the Lakers. Kobe was the league MVP in 2008 and a two-time NBA scoring champion. He also earned 15 All-NBA selections.

The great Kobe was a high school phenom at Lower Merion High School in Philadelphia. He realized his NBA dream in 1996 as he was drafted No. 13 overall by Charlotte. The Black Mamba never played for the Hornets. He started his NBA career in 1996-97 with the Lakers.

By the 1997-98 season, Kobe was an All-Star. It’s an honor he’d accomplish 18 times in his pro career.

After years of playoff letdowns, the Black Mamba and his team won the championship in 2000.

Kobe was stronger than his rival

By the end of the 2001-02 season, Kobe, Shaquille O’Neal, and the Lakers had completed a three-peat. On Jan. 22, 2006, the Lakers legend scored a career-best 81 points in the game against the Toronto Raptors.

In 2008, Kobe won the only NBA MVP of his career. His Lakers reached The Finals that season. In 2009, Kobe and his teammates won the title again. In that series, he earned his first Finals MVP.

The final championship (and Finals MVP) in a 20-year career came in 2010. The Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of The NBA Finals.

Kobe was also a 4-time All-Star Game MVP. He earned the last of those honors in 2011.

Two free throws on Dec. 14, 2014, pushed him past Michael Jordan for No. 3 on the all-time scoring list. Kobe played his final NBA game on April 13, 201. He dropped 60 points on the Utah Jazz and helped the team win the game.

In 2017, the Lakers retired both his No. 8 and No. 24 jerseys.
