Isiah Thomas Gives His Take On LeBron James’ MVP Case For Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James made his way to the NBA MVP award. Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas agrees that King James deserves the honors for his effort in the 2019-20 NBA regular season.

Thomas appeared on the most recent episode of the Scoop B Radio Podcast to discuss several topics. The former Detroit Pistons legend shared his take on the ongoing MVP debate. Is LeBron better than Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Both players have put up some insane numbers this season. LeBron put his Lakers on top of the Western Conference. Giannis helped the Bucks reach the top of the East.

King James is 35 and he is in his 17th NBA season. He is averaging 25.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and a league-leading 10.6 assists per game for the Lakers. Giannis, on the other hand, has improved his performance from last year. He is averaging 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds 5.8 assists, 1 steal and 1 block per contest.

“Giannis has been the frontrunner the whole year. But I thought before the season was suspended LeBron and the Lakers, they were making their move.”

LeBron deserves the NBA MVP award for pushing his Lakers to the top

The Lakers had a 49-14 record before the NBA suspended the regular season. Giannis’ Bucks stood at 53-12. If the NBA decides to go with records, LA will play Milwaukee in the playoffs.

Thomas explained that the Lakers played better basketball before the suspension. He believes that the Lakers could easily top the NBA with their performance.

“They (Lakers) were only two games in the loss column behind the Milwaukee Bucks. And Milwaukee and Giannis at that time — Giannis was a little banged up and Milwaukee wasn’t playing as well and I made the point that if the Lakers finish even or with a better record than the Milwaukee Bucks then you have to say LeBron James is the MVP of the League.”

We don’t know when the season resumes. LeBron and Giannis will try really hard to win this battle. The league’s greats have done the impossible to win more games than their rival. Will LeBron snatch the NBA MVP award this season? Let’s wait and find out.
