Josh Uche Has Perfect Reaction After Being Drafted By Patriots

Josh Uche is the latest addition to the talented New England Patriots roster. He earned a spot on the team’s front seven. If you ask Uche about his role on the roster, he’d say he is a perfect fit.

New England traded up to draft Uche in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft as a 60th overall selection. The Michigan edge rusher is convinced that he is a “perfect fit” for the Pats.

“I would say it’s a good fit for me because I’m a hard-ass worker, and the Patriots work their asses off,” Uche said during his introductory conference call.

Uche compared the Patriots’ defense to the one he had in Michigan. According to him, both defenses are pretty similar. The edge rusher is also excited to reunite with former Wolverines teammate Chase Winovich. The Patriots drafted Wino in the 2019 NFL Draft, and his rookie season was pretty awesome.

Josh Uche is ready for the challenge

Uche had two meetings with the Patriots during the pre-draft process. He had an informal sit-down with Steve Belichick at the NFL Scouting Combine. The second meeting was actually a virtual meeting with Jerod Mayo. Uche knew that the Patriots were coming after him.

“I knew they were interested,” the 21-year-old said. “… (But) I hadn’t heard anything from the Patriots in a little minute. And then when I got the (draft) call, I just knew that that was a perfect fit for me. I feel like the Patriots are going to maximize everything that I have to offer.”

Uche was brilliant at Michigan. He was one of the most productive pass rushers in the last two seasons. Uche led his team with 8 1/2 sacks in 2019 and stacked seven in a limited role in 2017.

New England has made a few unpredicted moves, but they are more than ready for the final rounds of the draft. Nick Caserio is positive about the team’s chances to add talented players later in the draft. Let’s see what happens in the next few days. Things are getting really hot in Foxboro. Everyone is so excited about the Patriots’ next move.
