Kendrick Perkins Reveals LeBron James’ Incredible Response After Saying He Picks Giannis For MVP

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron Jams was on his way to win his fifth NBA MVP award. However, the NBA suspended the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. There have been several theories about this year’s MVP winner. Kendrick Perkins shared his take on LeBron and the NBA topic.

During his interview with Joe Vardon of The Athletic, the ESPN analyst shared LeBron’s response after he told him that he was giving his vote for Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP this season.

“I sent him a text and I said, ‘Look man, I’ve got Giannis ahead of you,’” Perkins said. “And that’s when he texted me back and said, ‘Oh don’t worry, I’m gonna reclaim my throne.’ And I was like, ‘OK, well then do it.’ He’s like, ‘I am.’”

What does Kendrick Perkins say about LeBron and the NBA MVP

Perkins played with LeBron on the Cleveland Cavaliers for a couple of seasons. He was trying to say he was an unbiased commentator. We don’t know when did the exchange happen. However, it was more than obvious that it triggered the beast in LeBron.

LeBron was playing his best basketball. He defeated the Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks right before the NBA hiatus.

LeBron didn’t really pay attention to the MVP award in the previous months, he was ready to fuel the fire after the All-Star Weekend.

The four-time MVP was putting up 30.0 points, 9.4 assists and 8.4 rebounds per game after the All-Star weekend. During that period, LeBron was the second-leading scorer in the NBA, right behind Washington Wizards sharpshooter Bradley Beal.

Some still say that  Antetokounmpo is the frontrunner for the MVP award. On the season, the reigning MVP records career-highs in points (29.6) and rebounds (13.7) per game. He also has 5.8 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block per game.

LeBron was ready to win his MVP award, but he may not get a chance. The coronavirus pandemic has killed too many lives. The NBA may move on with the playoffs this summer. But, some say this is the end of the season. LeBron, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the guys have been playing some serious basketball. It was more than obvious that they were hunting for the title.
