Key Details Of Lakers’ Potential Return To Practice Revealed

NBA teams haven’t had their practice in a month. The regular season was suspended in an effort to prevent the further spread of the virus. There’s an update on the Los Angeles Lakers’ practice, and the same applies to other NBA teams.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the league will allow teams to open their facilities in states with changed stay-at-home orders. This may be great for many teams, but the Lakers may not see this as an advantage.

The city’s stay-at-home orders may be changed through May 15. Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported that the Lakers will try to find a different option for their practice.

“The Lakers have been in contact with the Los Angeles mayor’s office to discuss the possibility of opening their practice facility for players before the current shelter-at-home order for L.A. residents expires on May 15, sources close to the matter told ESPN.”

We don’t know whether LeBron James and his teammates will be able to return to their practice facilities earlier than May 15. However, they are definitely trying to change something.

Several NBA players tested positive for COVID-19, including two Lakers players. If players return to practice they won’t have to show up at any cost. According to McMenamin, the Lakers are ready to hit the floor.

“When the workouts begin, they will be voluntary. However, one source present for the conference call said players sounded “eager” to make the first step back since the NBA went on hiatus on March 11 and two Lakers players tested positive for COVID-19 shortly thereafter.”

The Los Angeles Lakers had a really good season. They won the top of the West and defeated the Clippers right before the NBA hiatus. The Milwaukee Bucks went down the hill too.

How will the Lakers’ practice look like?

If players return to practice, they will have to follow a lot of strict rules. This includes regular hand-washing and rearranged schedules.

“Hand-washing stations will be put in place. The weight room will be rearranged to allow for more space between equipment. Food service in the players’ lounge will be revamped to provide meals in individual containers, rather than through a buffet presentation.

A priority in the planning for the Lakers will be the implementation of a strict schedule for players to follow. Slotted workout times to prevent overcrowding. Players will be scheduled in groups of up to four — each getting their own half court — for 90-minute workout periods, with ample time between sessions for cleaning and sterilization.”
