LeBron James Shuts Down The Idea Of Canceling NBA Season

Numerous reports suggest that NBA execs want to cancel the NBA season due to the coronavirus outbreak. Well, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James doesn’t agree with this one.

LeBron’s comments came right after the CNBC report which cited several anonymous NBA execs and NBA player agents who have shared their concerns about restarting the season amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The report suggests that players press execs through their agents. They are all “pushing for an outright cancellation of the season so everyone can focus on safely resuming play next season.”

According to LeBron, this is absolutely wrong.

“Saw some reports about execs and agents wanting to cancel season??? That’s absolutely not true,” the three-time NBA champion said. “Nobody I know saying anything like that. As soon as it’s safe we would like to finish our season. I’m ready and our team is ready. Nobody should be canceling anything.”

Will execs agree to cancel the NBA season?

There may be some true in this one. LeBron doesn’t know everything. He can’t really tell what every agent says. He can’t tell what every exec says. However, he is someone who knows a lot of people, and he may be right. The only thing we can do is wait and see what happens next.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is convinced that the regular season should continue. But, he will support the return of players only if the plan guarantees the safety of every fan, player, and coach.

The NBA was the first major pro-sports league to suspend the regular season. Rudy Gobert from the Utah Jazz was the first player to test positive for coronavirus. His teammate Donovan Mitchell had the virus too. At least fifteen other players tested positive. Every other league followed the NBA’s way. Pretty much every sports league is shut down at the moment.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver won’t give up on the 2020 season. But, he won’t support the resume of the season if it comes with a risk. The safety of NBA players is a priority now. There’s speculation suggesting that they may return to their practice facilities. This applies to teams in cities with lower restrictions.
