NFL Chief Medical Officer Drops Hard Truth Bombs About Resuming the Sports Schedule

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed thousands of people. Over a million people tested positive for the virus. The pandemic has shut down most of the society in our country and around the globe. The NFL is not in the middle of the season. That makes things easier for everybody. However, the NBA had to suspend the regular season. Players have yet to play the final games. According to some sources, the NFL will do the 2020 NFL Draft in a studio setting. The league will try to do its business as usual. However, the NFL chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills, gave us a different point of view.

Most NFL fans won’t like the comments he made. Sills offered a realistic view of the current situation. Fans are not even close to realizing the severity of the situation.

“As long as we’re still in a place where when a single individual tests positive for the virus that you have to quarantine every single person who was in contact with them in any shape, form or fashion then I don’t think you can begin to think about reopening a team sport,” Sills said.

The NFL chief medical officer is cautious

This may be really upsetting for you. However, the doctor is not wrong. The NBA shut down everything after Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. The league canceled games right on time. Fifteen players have the virus at the moment. Any delay could have led to serious consequences.

Dr. Sill knows that the future can’t be predicted right now. They can’t predict the effect COVID-19 will have on a global level.

“I would say that’s everyone’s hope, that we are in a position to do that. But the reality is none of us know those facts for certain right now,” the doctor added.

NFL teams weren’t able to meet free agent players. FaceTime was the only option for coaches and execs. It was hard to contact all the players, but the meetings could in no way fit in the guidelines. It’s a challenging offseason for the NFL. Hopefully, the nightmare will end soon.
