Patriots Legend’s Mother, Stepfather Died From COVID-19

The Patriots nation sends thoughts and prayers for Andre Trippett. The Patriots legend talked to Steve Buckley from The Athletic and revealed that he lost his mother and stepfather to COVID-19. The family tragedy left everyone in shock. Trippett’s mom and stepfather died within days of each other. Willie Lovett died on April 21. Frances Trippett Lovett died four days after her beloved husband. Willie and Frances were 79.

“I know this is going on all over the world,” Trippett said. “But someone asked me two months ago, or maybe six weeks ago, if I knew anybody that had been touched by that. And I remember saying, ‘No. But God forbid that anything like that would happen in my family.’ And I thought that nothing would happen.

“Next thing I know, I get the call that my step-dad is in the hospital for a heart procedure, and he ends up being tested positive. And my mother was at the hospital, and now she’s feeling like she was at a sauna. And they had to keep her there. She had a heart condition as well, and on top of that, with the antibiotics and all the things they were trying to do, neither one of them could make it. They both went comatose. So it was a very tough time for us.”

Trippett’s son has COVID-19

Trippett’s son, Coby, has the virus, too. He spent some time in isolation. The Towson University defensive back is now home with his family.

Andre was a Patriot in the period between 1982 and 1993. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008. In his enshrinement speech, Andre praised his mother and credited her for his success in his career.

The coronavirus pandemic has taken thousands of lives. Over two million people tested positive for the virus. Authorities struggle to prevent the further spread of the virus. Patriots owner Robert Kraft used the team’s plane to transport masks from China. He even sent 300,000 masks to New York. The situation doesn’t look good at all, and hopefully, authorities will find a way to control the pandemic.
