Report: New England Patriots Made Official Decision On Adam Butler

The New England Patriots are taking one step at a time. This will be a rather long offseason for the storied franchise. First, they lost Tom Brady in free agency. The former Patriots quarterback decided to take his talents somewhere else. Brady is now part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Patriots have to move on without him. Head coach Bill Belichick has his hands full of work. He will have to fill up the voids some of his former players left. Well, Belichick and his Patriots have already made a decision on Adam Butler.

According to recent reports, Butler now has a chance to grow in his current place.

New England announced Friday in a statement they offered a deal to the defensive lineman. The team re-signed Butler to a new contract. Blichick and Co. reportedly had tendered Butler, a restricted free agent, at the second-round level last month. They have negotiated new terms successfully with the defensive lineman.

Butler saw action in all 16 of the regular-season games in 2019. He started two of them. Butler set career highs in sacks (six), tackles (26), tackles for loss (eight), quarterback hits (one) and pass deflections (five) during the season with the Patriots.

Adam Butler will contribute to the defense

The defensive lineman joined the Patriots in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. He became an amazing player on the roster, and they have used his talent to win games. According to most analysts, Butler has developed into a valuable contributor to the Patriots defense.

Unlike the offense, the defense was really great in 2019. Thanks to the defense, the Patriots won most of their games. The defense carried the entire team on the back. New England had the strongest defense in the NFL. Belichick will try to do the same this season. He will probably enter the season with a strong defense.

Belichick will probably add a few important figures to his defense. He will also have to take care of the offense. There were too many holes in the offense. New England’s offense struggled on the field in 2019. Let’s hope this will change in 2020.
