Skip Bayless Gives His ‘Gut Feeling’ On Rumors About Andy Dalton, Patriots

Andy Dalton will have to find a home after the Cincinnati Bengals cut him. The Bengals released the veteran quarterback after nine years. There have been so many rumors about his potential trip to Foxboro, Skip Bayless isn’t really convinced that Andy Dalton won’t join the Patriots.

The Patriots lost Tom Brady in free agency and he has signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bill Belichick didn’t select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Carolina Panthers released Cam Newton. The 2015 NFL MVP was also linked with the Patriots. But, it turns out that Belichick isn’t interested in signing these two. That’ what Bayless said on FS1’s “Undisputed.”

Andy Dalton to the Patriots?

Bayless doesn’t see the Patriots head coach sign Dalton despite the fact that he is a three-time Pro Bowl selection.

“Bill Belichick wants to do nothing conventional. He does not want to be predictable. He doesn’t want to go with the flow and do what everybody expects every other coach to do, which would be, ‘Oh, you just released Andy Dalton? We’ll take him.’ That seems too easy to me,” Bayless said. “It seems too predictable, too cut and dried, so my gut, gut feeling is — right here, right now — they will not sign Andy Dalton. I believe that Belichick wants to prove to the world that he has his next Tom Brady via down in the draft. Obviously, Jarrett Stidham was a fourth-round pick as opposed to Brady being a sixth-round pick, but it’s Brady-esque to say, ‘I’ll take him down in the fourth round and I’ll show you I’ve got a keeper, I’ve got a winner, I’ve got a future Pro Bowler here.’”

The Patriots will keep making headlines in the next few weeks. Coach Belichick said he was satisfied with his quarterbacks at the moment. New England has Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Stidham will join forces with one of his college weapons, and this gives Belichick even better confidence about the upcoming season.

The Patriots head coach and Nick Caserio added 16 undrafted free agents. He has a plan for 2020, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
