This Patriots-Chargers Trade Could Save New England’s Offseason

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick always plays bold and his offseasons have always been smooth. However, New England’s current offseason may be giving Belichick a big headache. He lost quarterback Tom Brady right before the offseason starts. Half of his star defensive players are gone. The Patriots have too many holes to fill, and the situation doesn’t really look entertaining. New England has never been in a similar situation. The organization has never entered an offseason without Brady. What will happen next? Well, there’s plenty of time to finish off a trade. Belichick can complete his winning formula during the 2020 NFL Draft. Are we looking at a Patriots-Chargers trade?

There’s enough room and time to make trades and address all the problems New England has at the moment. Belichick has mastered the draft. He knows how to pull out the right trade move at the right time. So, there’s no room for panic. Belichick can do it all.

The Patriots-Chargers trade may end well

Maybe Belichick would even call the Los Angeles Chargers and ask for Keenan Allen.

We’ve already discussed these trade rumors. The whole thing got really hot last year. The Chargers struggled and Brady needed another receiver. New England had lost Josh Gordon and Rob Gronkowski at the time. Well, this plan never worked. Brady didn’t get his receiver, and the Tennessee Titans pushed the Patriots away from the playoffs.

This scenario may work really well at this point. Belichick will have to add an offensive player if he wants to win more games in 2020. Allen is in his contract year. Will the Chargers trade Allen away? Maybe they will show interest in Patriots offensive lineman Joe Thuney. Some say he’s placed on the trade block.

The salaries of both players match. Thuney is set to make $14.8 million and Allen will have $12.65 million. New England and Los Angeles may easily benefit from this trade. The Chargers may build the best offensive line in the NFL if they trade Dan Feeney for Thuney and add depth to the line that features Bryan Bulaga, Mike Pouncey, Trai Turner and Sam Tevi at the moment. The Patriots can use Allen alongside Julian Edelman and boost Jarrett Stidham’s game. Makes sense.
