Watch: Kyrie Irving’s Reaction When Asked If He Sees LeBron As A Parental Figure

LeBron James has always been a leader for his teams. That’s exactly what happened during his second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, he wasn’t really a parental figure. Stories about this emerged in 2015, when a media member asked Kyrie Irving about the impact King James had on his game and his teammates. Was LeBron really a parental figure?

Irvin was shocked. He didn’t really believe that the reporter asked this question. The reporter also recalled Tristan Thompson calling LeBron a great father and asked Kyrie how he felt about it.

Irving was shocked at first, but he then understood the point of this question. He said that LeBron was a good leader while joking that he only had one dad.

“Parental role? Honestly? I don’t know how to really answer that question. He has been a great leader for us. I have one father. That’s my dad, Drederick Irving. But for us, in terms of learning the nuances of the game, and also how to win, and how to carry ourselves off the court, I feel he has been a great influence in that role.”

Kyrie respects LeBron

Irving and James shared the floor for four years during the King’s second stint in Cleveland. Irving has started his NBA career in Cleveland. He was 22 when LeBron joined the Cavaliers in 2014. LeBron was an 11-season NBA veteran with an established style and leadership.

LeBron had always had an influence over his teammates. In 2016, he led Cleveland to its first championship and Irving helped him. A year later, Kyrie wanted out, and he left the Cavaliers to sign with the Boston Celtics. LeBron stayed in Cleveland for another season.

There have been many rumors about the alleged tension between LeBron and Irving. Some say Irving left the Cavaliers because he wanted to be a leader of his own team.

Although LeBron didn’t have any hard feelings for Irving, the latter called to apologize. Being a leader is really hard, and Irving saw it firsthand. He had hard time leading young players in Boston. That’s why he decided to call LeBron.
