Ex-NFL GM Makes Important Point About Patriots RBs Amid Questions About Offense

How will the New England Patriots fix their offense for the upcoming season? The team signed and cut a bunch of players, and they also lost many key players in free agency. Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham is expected to start under center. It’s more than obvious that head coach Bill Belichick will give him the starting position. Of course, this will happen if the Patriots don’t make a few other changes in the next three months.

Last year, New England went under fire following all the mistakes their offense made. Former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady lacked offensive weapons, and the passing game wasn’t really strong. ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum talked about this issue and the team’s upcoming season.

The Patriots offense will go strong in September

The former general manager of the New York Jets said that the Patriots depth on the tuning back chart will give the team enough power in September. According to him, Patriots running backs are so impressive that Jarrett Stidham won’t need to do wonders on the field.

“I think you can make a case that the New England Patriots running back room arguably is the best position room of any position of any team in the league,” Tannenbaum said. “They go five and six deep. I had Brandon Bolden with the Dolphins. We rarely get to talk about (Damien) Harris, who is a really good player out of Alabama. Then you think about (Rex) Burkhead, James White and obviously Sony Michel. It is a great group. One of the things that is a critical factor when you’re defending the Patriots is can you defend the running backs in the passing game?

“I don’t think Stidham has to be great for New England to be productive this year and I don’t think there’s been enough said — look, I understand their weapons may not have been ideal a year ago, but that running back room to me is dynamic and it doesn’t necessarily have to be as runners. Damien Harris can’t even get on the field and I think he has a chance to be a really good player.”

This makes us believe that Tannenbaum has a specific opinion on Harris. One thing stands for sure. The Patriots really like Stidham, and they decided to trust him. Coach B and Nick Caserio didn’t select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. they also passed on every veteran quarterback on the open market.
