Former Dolphins Player Reveals Why Don Shula Never Liked Patriots’ Bill Belichick

The NFL world was hit with the devastating news about Don Shula’s death. The Miami Dolphins legend was the winningest coach in the entire history of football. But, Don Shula didn’t really like Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Well, he liked it at the beginning of the Patriots dynasty. Shula changed his mind after the Patriots got involved in a scandal. The Miami legend started firing shots at Belichick.

Shula criticized the Patriots head coach for the scandals his team took part in. “The Spygate has diminished what they’ve accomplished,” he said. Deflategate was next on the list. “We didn’t deflate any balls,” Shula said, adding that his team wins games with a lot of hard work. Shula said much more than that, but Belichick never fired back.

Shula slammed Belichick on a regular basis

Former Dolphins defensive back Dick Anderson appeared on CBS Sports Radio’s “The D.A. Show” and talked about Shula’s opinion on Belichick.

“He called Belichick, ‘Belicheat,’” he said. “He was straight forward. Shula was, ‘This is how we have to do it and these are the rules and this is how we’re going to follow them.’ He didn’t like, I think the people that didn’t follow the rules — and he did. He was a man, and we kind of laugh about it, but he would go to mass every morning on the way to practice and then he would yell at us the whole time.”

Shula died at 90. He is the all-time leader in wins by an NFL head coach. Shula has 347 wins, and this number includes playoff wins. Chicago Bears legend George Halas has 324 and the Patriots head coach has 304 wins. Belichick ranks third on the list.

Coach B delivered a statement Monday afternoon, calling Shula one of the greatest coaches in the league. He didn’t have anything bad to say about the Dolphins legend. Shula was a big name in the history of sports, and the world will always remember him for his great achievement.

Belichick and his Patriots will enter a new season with a brand new roster. He will play without Tom Brady for the first time since 1999.
