Patriots Officially Sign Safety, Entire 2020 Draft Class Now Signed

The New England Patriots have officially signed the entire 2020 draft class. This makes them the first team to complete the procedure. Right after reaching an agreement on Patrick Chung’s contract extension, the Patriots signed veteran rookie Kyle Dugger.

Chung’s deal gave the Patriots the necessary salary cap space. Dugger is on his first NFL contract. The information was first confirmed by Field Yates from ESPN. The Patriots confirmed the signing right after Yates’ initial report.

Dugger is a versatile safety from Division II Lenoir-Rhyne. He is the Patriots’ top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Patriots selected him with the 37th overall pick. The talented rookie will join Chung, Devin McCourty, Adrian Phillips, Terrence Brooks, Cody Davis, Malik Gant and Adaius Pickett.

The Patriots selected 10 players this year. Dugger, linebackers Josh Uche and Anfernee Jennings, tight ends Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene, kicker Justin Rohrwasser, guard Michael Onwenu, guard/tackle Justin Herron, linebacker Cassh Maluia and center/guard Dustin Woodard. All 10 draft selections have signed their contract with the Patriots.

The Patriot complete the 2020 Draft class

New England signed 15 undrafted free agents. They have quarterbacks J’Mar Smith and Brian Lewerke, wide receivers Jeff Thomas and Will Hastings and running back J.J. Taylor.

Head coach Bill Belichick selected a nice group of players in this 2020 NFL Draft. He made some unexpected moves in the past few weeks. Many thought that the coach would select a quarterback, but he didn’t. Belichick decided to trust second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham. The Patriots also have veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer. But, some analysts believe that Smith is a much better option than Stidham. He has earned words of praise for his physical strength, arm and throws. This makes him a perfect fit for the Brady-less team. Stidham and Smith may compete for a spot on the roster.

The Patriots are entering a rather anticipated season. They will play without Tom Brady for the first time since his selection. It will be hard for every player on the roster as they will have to try extra hard in September. But, Belichick is positive about this year’s roster. He is ready to win.
