Patriots’ Rivals Are Officially Worried New England is Tanking for Trevor Lawrence

The New England Patriots will enter the 2020 season without star quarterback Tom Brady. Head coach Bill Belichick will have another player under center for the first time in 19 years. Is Trevor Lawrence making his way to New England?

Although some rumors suggested that the Patriots are interested in adding a veteran quarterback, New England is happy with former fourth-round pick Jarrett Stidham as their signal-caller moving forward. Belichick and Nick Caserio also did not select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

One AFC evaluator discussed New England’s willingness to tank this season. This may happen if they want to land 2021 prospect and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence would definitely be a player of interest. The star player has long been considered the top prospect in the class of 2021. Lawrence would would also be the perfect successor in Foxboro.

The Patriots’ defense ranks first in total defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) last season as noted by Football Outsiders.

Belichick has the best secondary in the NFL. The team selected athletic safety Kyler Dugger in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Although the Patriots lost some talent on the front seven, Belichick is the master of building rosters. He will come up with something. Belichick would never let his team fail. According to most fans, he will create a strong roster.

Lawrence has the size, arm strength and escape ability to attracted the attention of many NFL teams. Will the Patriots decide to “tank” given their defensive power? They are ready to give Stidham a chance to lead the team.

If the Patriots let Brady leave after like 20 years of this, tank for a season, and then resume the dynasty for another 20 with Trevor Lawrence because they're the first team with the intelligence to tank properly not half-assed, I may just cry.

Does Belichick want Trevor Lawrence?

Coach B said he liked the talent on the roster. He has already said that Stidham has enough talent. Brian Hoyer joined the Pats recently, and he will probably be a backup quarterback.

This means that the Patriots may be ready to tank the season and wait for Lawrence. They let Brady go after twenty years. Brady was leading the dynasty for two decades, and he is now part of another team. Why won’t the Patriots just blow this season and wait for Lawrence to join their roster? Impossible is nothing, and the Patriots can do whatever they want.
