Sources Reportedly Believe New England Patriots Could Go After This Quarterback

The New England Patriots didn’t make a quarterback pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Many thought that head coach Bill Belichick will go with second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Tom Brady is officially a Bucs player, and he even got Rob Gronkowski on the roster. So, yes, the Patriots like Stidham, and Brian Hoyer is expected to step in as a backup quarterback for his younger teammate. There are so many questions regarding the Patriots’ quarterback position. Analysts have tried to unveil Belichick’s next plan. Belichick and Co. may be going after one particular quarterback. Trevor Lawrence.

If this is the case, the Patriots will “tank” the 2020 season.

Coach Belichick and Nick Caserio didn’t show any interest in Jameis Winston, Cam Newton and Andy Dalton. Each of these players was available, but the Patriots didn’t even make a move to get them. Maybe Belichick has big plans for 2021. Of course, he has to be sure that Trevor would end up in New England. If Belichick gets any sort of guarantee, nothing would stop him from going after the talented quarterback prospect.

New England may be getting the quarterback

The Athletic shared the theory of an anonymous AFC executive. According to the exec, Belichick and his organization may be going after Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft. The team may be waving the white flag on the 2020 season to get the top pick in 2021.

A great number of NFL teams would be interested in Lawrence. He’s been a top target, and Belichick will probably compete with many other head coaches to get the talented signal-caller. But, hey, it’s Bill Belichick. He has won six Super Bowls with Tom Brady. He ranks third on the list of winningest quarterbacks. Who wouldn’t want to play under him?

Let’s see what happens in 2021. Belichick will have to do a lot of thinking now. In one of his recent interviews, Belichick said he likes Stidham and Hoyer. Does this mean that he won’t even try to get another quarterback? We’ll just wait to see what happens in September. Things will be a lot clearer at that point of the year.
