The Story Of Tom Brady And His Lost Patriots Jersey

NFL fans will remember Super Bowl LI as a match full of surprises. Some will remember it for the comeback the New England Patriots had. Former Patriots quarterback had an incredible fourth quarter, and he led the team to a big win. New England won the fifth Super Bowl. The great Tom Brady will remember it for his lost jersey.

TB12 sent his jersey to the locker room. He was wearing a special jersey to celebrate the occasion. Some time later, Brady put his game jersey into a black bag and went to the bathroom to wash his face. That’s when the game jersey disappeared. Brady was looking for it, and it was nowhere to be found. He also told Patriots owner Robert Kraft about his jersey. He said, “somebody stole my game jersey.” What did the owner say? “You better look online.”

Brady didn’t stop here. He filed a complaint with Houston’s Police Department. It was a serious theft, and the investigation was handed to the Texas Rangers.

Stadium and locker room cameras showed an unknown man wandering around the restricted area for half an hour. He took a selfie with a player and sneaked into the Patriots’ locker room. His name is Mauricio Ortega.

A few days later, everyone found out that Brady had had similar experience at Super Bowl 49. Why didn’t he do anything about that jersey?

“I still have at least one game-based ball from every Super Bowl sitting in my office at home,” the quarterback revealed this in The Great Brady heist. “I knew I wanted to keep the 51 Jersey because of everything it meant to my family.”

Tom Brady got his lost jersey back

The 2015 season Super Bowl-winning jersey helped authorities do something about the theft. They found the holes in the security systems and learned that the same man was standing behind both thefts.

Memorabilia enthusiast Dylan Wagner was the whistleblower. He talked to Ortega two months before the incident. They exchanged photographs of collections. One of the photos had Brady’s XLIX jersey.

Ortega posed as a media member for years, and even wore clothes that would help him approach players.

Brady got his jerseys back, and he didn’t press any charges.
