Buffalo Bills Fan Donates Kidney to New England Patriots Fan in Need

Do you know that Buffalo is called the City of Good Neighbors? Yes, it is. Ken Burke, a Buffalo Bills fan, donates his kidney to an unknown lady, and yes she is a Patriots fan. The Buffalo fan had to do something about Cassie Yahnian, a young woman who was looking for a kidney.

“I happened upon a post of a young woman who was looking for a kidney,” Burke said. “She seemed like she was having a pretty rough go. It spoke to me. I read her story. I took a day and I thought about it and thought, ‘That must be pretty terrible. She must feel pretty alone.’”

In March, Burke made his way to Boston to donate his kidney. Yahnian was in her twenties, and she had never met Burke before. It was nice to see the Bills fan offer help to a Patriots fan.

“There’s one Patriots fan out there that’s got a Bills fan inside of her,” Burke said. “You know, she may be a Patriots fan on the outside, but she’s a Bills fan on the inside.”

Yahnian really hopes that other people will follow Burke’s example. There are so many people in pain out there. They all need help. Burke did an excellent job. If only people were as awesome as he is.

“I hope that there’s other people out there who are in my situation and it kind of gives them hope that there’s more people like Ken that are willing to donate and help them,” Yahnian added.

The football fans were recovering from the surgeries. Yahnian felt alive and free for the first time in months. The recovery process happened in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

The lady’s life was full of daily dialysis and her kidney malfunction only got worse. Today, she feels great.

“I feel great. It was crazy. After surgery, after I got out of the hospital, within two weeks, I started hiking,” Yahnian said.

Burke said he’d do the same again. Without a second thought. He is awesome, and we need more of Burke’s awesomeness in this world.
