Former Patriots TE Believes the Side is Better Off Without Tom Brady

Former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria talked about the team’s chances without Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. Fauria appeared on WEEI and discussed several topics, including the Patriots’ performance in the upcoming season. Some NFL fans will agree with him on this one.

According to Fauria, the Patriots are better off without TB12.

Fauria explained that it’s not that TB12 wasn’t successful with the Patriots. The former tight end is convinced that the quarterback was at a point in his career where his aspirations and goals differ from that of his former team. This includes Brady’s age, career goals and achievements. The Patriots were trying to achieve something else. Well, both sides have different plans and it shows.

Fauria provided a diplomatic answer. He said that the Patriots’ offense wouldn’t have had success with Brady throwing the ball. The former tight end said that even though Brady’s passes were important, his reluctance to adapt would have affected the Patriots’ chances to win.

“This offense is not going to be able to move forward with Brady as the quarterback, not because he sucks. Those throwaways were important. It’s because he wasn’t willing to adapt. There’s the difference. He wasn’t willing to let N’Keal Harry grow.”

Fauria also said that the Bucs quarterback was holding the defense back, adding that he wasn’t willing to take any risks. The tight end added that the GOAT was a successful quarterback with great experience who wanted to win but didn’t want to take any chances.

If you ask Fauria, he will say that Brady wasn’t willing to mess his stats up. The tight end said that Brady avoided throwing passes that could get intercepted and would rather throw out of bonds instead.

“A veteran quarterback who wants to win and throw the football and is not willing to take risks and doesn’t want his stats being messed with and won’t throw interceptions and would rather throw it out of bounds, that’s the guy that is going to delay the development of your star wide receiver who you won’t throw the ball to because you don’t trust him because he doesn’t have a long enough track record,” Fauria said.
