LeBron James To Produce Documentary About The Black Wall Street

LeBron James and his friend and business partner Maverick Carter will produce a documentary on Black Wall Street and the Tulsa race massacre of 1921. SpringHill Entertainment will stand behind the documentary and Salima Koroma signs as director. This is the 99th anniversary of the massacre. If by any chance you don’t know what happened back then, you better watch the documentary.

A group of white rioters smashed 35 blocks of a large and rich Black neighborhood. The attack came from both the ground and the air, and Tulsa was never the same. The Black Wall Street disappeared and at least 36 people lost their lives. That’s what initial reports suggested. According to today’s estimates, close to 300 people died.

LeBron James will share the story of the Black Wall Street

This big news came after millions of people took the streets to protest against racial injustice and police brutality. The death of George Floyd caused the mass protests. Koroma tweeted how “the fabric of this country is soaked in racism and today, 99 years later, we’re still fighting for change.”

Deadline didn’t mention the release date for the documentary. However, we believe that it will come out some time next year. That would be right on time for the 100th anniversary of the tragedy.

This documentary is the second project about Black Wall Street that was announced today. Surviving R. Kelly executive producer Dream Hampton announced the production of a Cineflix miniseries about Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum and his search for the mass graves of the 300 African-Americans who died that day.

The death of Floyd raised so many questions, and the problem won’t be solved in the near future. Instead of finding a solution, authorities have allowed the situation to get out of control. Millions of people are angry with the latest development of events and the way President Donald Trump approached the problem.

LeBron James and many other athletes voiced their support for protesters, and hopefully, someone will hear their voice. We need to stop the bloodshed and take care of our country and the people who live in it.
