McCourty Brothers Sound Off Drew Brees, Call QB’s Comments ‘A Disgrace’

The McCourty brothers won’t accept anything that comes from Drew Brees at the moment. The New Orleans Saints quarterback made a comment regarding the players who kneel during the national anthem, and it didn’t sit well with Jason and Devin.

“I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country,” the quarterback said of the NFL players who take a knee during the performance of The Star-Spangled Banner.

His teammate, Michael Thomas, slammed him for this comment. He fired series of tweets about Brees’ comments, voicing his displeasure.

The McCourty twins slam Drew Brees

The McCourty twins were next on the list. They took to their shared Twitter account and called Brees’ comments “a disgrace.” We know a lot of people who will agree on this one.

“This is a disgrace! To speak about your grandfathers as if there weren’t black men fighting next to them. Those men later returned to a country that hated them. Don’t avoid the issue and try to make it about the flag or the military. Fight like your grandfathers for what’s right!” they wrote.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to kneel during the national anthem. The kneeling protests started in 2016, and Kaepernick hasn’t been able to find a job ever since. He was protesting against police brutality and racial injustice. A lot of players supported him, and their number grew bigger and bigger.

The death of George Floyd opened an old wound. The issue may have been “forgotten” all these years, but it’s here now. We need a solution. Those families need answers. Someone has to admit responsibility for the death of the unfortunate man.

Millions of Americans protest in the streets, and some of them have taken the problem to a completely different level. In some cities, the protests have become violent, and protesters destroy properties. A great number of athletes have called for peaceful protests. Floyd’s brother did the same. His family doesn’t approve of the violence we’re seeing these days. It won’t bring Floyd back. He would never support it.
