Michael Jordan Shocking First Impression of LeBron James

Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan had a good first impression of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James. Sort of. He probably didn’t think that LeBron would be much better than him. Well, the King of basketball has been putting up some really good numbers, and he is about to win his fourth title.

NBA fans witnessed LeBron’s dominance on the floor, and today, he has the ability turn his teammates into better players. It’s interested to know that Jordan was among those who doubted LeBron.

In his high school career, LeBron became a real star. In his final two years in high school, LeBron developed into a dominant player. His performance was excellent, and he could easily confront Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady. Young LeBron became a top prospect and the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.

Michael Jordan didn’t think that LeBron James would come this far

LeBron was dubbed “The Chosen One.” What did Jordan say about this?

“I think he’s talented for 18 years old,” said the Bulls legend. “Once he gets to this level, I don’t think he’s in the upper echelon of two guards or small forwards. I think he’s toward the bottom — respectively so, because there’s so much about his game that he’s going to have to adapt to. He has unbelievable potential. I think that’s what everybody is looking at, everybody is raving about. But he hasn’t played against competition consistently, college or pros. He’s played against high school kids … You have to give that some credence.

“When you look at the skill level and his maturity at his age, he’s definitely talented enough. Five years from now? If he takes on the dedication of being the best basketball player he can be, and continues to improve and accept challenges and not get comfortable with what’s been given to him or what the expectations may be, he could definitely be a good pro.”

Truth is, LeBron didn’t have great expectations for the Lakers superstar. He noticed his talent, but didn’t really believe that LeBron would have this great career.

LeBron did much more than that. He has three titles and will definitely stay in the top-five on the all-time assists list. He has four MVP awards, 15 All-Star selections, 12 All-NBA First Team nods and three NBA Finals MVP awards.
