Patriots’ Julian Edelman Voicing Support For Blackout Tuesday

Julian Edelman is one of the many athletes to voice support for Blackout Tuesday. Millions of people have voiced their support following the death of George Floyd.

On May 25, four Minneapolis police officers arrested the 46-year-old African-American. The arrest took place after a deli employee called 911. He accused the unfortunate man of buying smokes with a counterfeit $20 bill. The first team arrived immediately. Seventeen minutes later, Floyd was lying unconscious and pinned beneath three police officers. He was dead.

Bystanders caught the whole thing on camera. In one video, we can see the four officers taking a series of actions that violated the policies of the Minneapolis Police Department. Floyd couldn’t breathe. Everyone tried to help, but the situation got worse.

The Police Department fired the officers involved in Floyd’s death. On Friday, the Hennepin County Attorney, Mike Freeman, confirmed the murder and manslaughter charges against Derek Chauvin. His name will always be remembered as the name of the officer who pins Floyd to the ground. The officer kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds as confirmed by the criminal complaint against him. The video material shows that the police officer did not remove his knee even after the poor man lost his consciousness. He kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for a full minute after paramedics arrived at the spot.

Julian Edelman isn’t the only athlete to support Blackout Tuesday

Edelman is not the only athlete to voice support. Every league in the country supported the peaceful protest. Floyd isn’t the only African-American to die under these circumstances. His death triggered an avalanche of reactions. The entire country has to deal with a big mess. A lot of people have been injured in the past few days. The situation gets worse with every day that goes by.

Racial injustice has been a problem since ancient times, and now is the time to find a solution to the problem. Innocent people may lose their lives if authorities don’t do anything to stop the bloodshed.
