Patriots Plan at Quarterback Entering The 2020 Season

The New England Patriots won’t have Tom Brady in the upcoming 2020 season. This leaves the organization with a lot of questions, and head coach Bill Belichick will have to find a way to strengthen the quarterback position. Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham will probably take the quarterback position and many believe that he will step in as a replacement for Brady. Veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer is also an option. Well, analysts say that the 2020 NFL season is actually a “reset” season for the team.

The Patriots are ready for 2020

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated responded to a question set from one of his readers. The NFL fan wanted to know whether Stiddy will start all 16 games for the Patriots. Breer reported that Stidham is an excellent option because he didn’t really sustain too many injuries in his history. Yes, he can definitely replace Brady.

“I’d say yes. He has very little injury history. And I do think when the chips are down, the Patriots are going to want to see what they have in their 23-year-old quarterback, because they do feel like there’s something to work with there from a talent standpoint. Now, maybe it’s a trainwreck in camp, and Bill Belichick looks for reinforcements in August. But I think it’s more likely they ride out whatever bumps lay ahead with Jarrett Stidham.

“Why? Well, because this is sort of a year to reset in New England. They’re carrying dead money. They’re resetting financials. They’ll be relying on some younger players than they’re accustomed to leaning on in some key spots (particularly at linebacker, receiver and tight end). And so it makes sense that, as part of that, they give Stidham a great shot at developing and proving he’s worthy of being Tom Brady’s successor.”

The Patriots will face a lot of challenges in the next few years. They will have to cover several positions, and the post-Tom Brady era will definitely give them a headache. But, coach Belichick is confident about the success his team will have. He knows that his guys have enough talent to win games.
