Report: LeBron James Works Out with Potential Lakers NBA Draft Target

Three-time NBA champion LeBron James has been working out with Lakers NBA draft target. Will the Lakers get him?

Maxey was working out with the king of basketball and Sixers superstar Ben Simmons. There’s no video of their session, but Klutch Sports released photos of Maxey alongside LeBron James and Simmons.

Maxey may be a nice option for the Lakers. The team traded away three first-round picks to the New Orleans Pelicans to get Anthony Davis last summer. De’Andre Hunter, a pick in 2021 and a 2024 pick. The Pelicans can swap picks with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023.

In other words, this may be the Lakers only first-round selection in three years. The Lakers may draft and trade a player this season. But, if the team hangs onto the pick, they can select a player who can be an excellent contributor.

LeBron James to bring another player to the Lakers

Maxey didn’t have the best season at Kentucky. He went to Lexington at the No. 13 recruit in the nation, packed with potential and hype. Maxey was a nice player as a perimeter shooter with deep range who can replace former Wildcat Tyler Herro. He recorded 26 points in his debut with Kentucky, and everyone praised his talents.

SB Nation held Maxey out as a potential No. 1 selection.

“His range is infinite, he’s great at drawing contact, and is a capable passer. He isn’t incredibly tall or long, but he’s quick, smart and looks solid on the defensive end. Ja Morant went No. 2 without mind-blowing measurables last season. There’s no reason Maxey can’t climb higher.”

In another report, Maxey was put in the same sentence with other great Kentucky players.

Things didn’t take the right turn for Maxey. In his 10 games after the debut Maxey averaged 11.8 points, shot 38.2% from the field and 22.0% from the 3-point line. He was no longer a top selection. Will the Lakers be interested in getting him?

“John Wall, Brandon Knight, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Tyler Herro. … Soon enough, Tyrese Maxey will add his name to that list.”
