Report: Update Emerges On Patriots’ Sony Michel Condition After Surgery

The New England Patriots lost a few key players in free agency. Some of the main contributors had a surgery this offseason. Running back Sony Michel is one of them and he had his foot surgery in May. According to Mike Reiss from ESPN, Michel is rehabbing from his procedure.

Reiss also reported that the surgery was actually “maintenance-based.” Michel had it to heal the pain that has been bugging him for quite some time.

Sony Michel feels great after his surgery

The 24-year-old running back rehabs in Foxboro. He ran 912 yards and touchdowns in 16 games last season. It was his sophomore campaign, and head coach Bill Belichick was satisfied with the outcome.

Michel sustained several knee injuries in the past couple of years. He also had fluid drained from his knee. In 2018, he twisted his knee and had to stay on the sidelines for some time. Michel wasn’t able to take part in three games due to the discomfort and pain.

The Georgia product is a first-round selection for the New England Patriots. Head coach Bill Belichick selected Michel 31st overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Michel was able to bond with former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The GOAT really liked Michel and they had great success on the field. Sadly, Brady is no longer playing with the Patriots. He signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is likely to end his career wearing the Bucs uniform.

When it comes to the Patriots running back unit, Brandon Bolden has nothing but words of praise. The Patriots have an excellent running back group, and Bolden stands at the very bottom. However, this doesn’t change the fact that he is an excellent contributor to the game.

The Patriots will enter a highly anticipated season. They will play without their leading quarterback. Playing without TB12 will be a challenge for coach Belichick and his staff. Well, the Patriots head coach and pretty much every member of the organization have high expectations from the players. Although the Pats will see a lot of obstacles in 2020, they have enough talent to win more games.
