Stephen Jackson Reveals The Text LeBron James Sent Him After His George Floyd Speech

Retired NBA player Stephen Jackson and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James supported each other in these hard times. They promised to support each other during the fight for justice. George Floyd’s death triggered chaos in the country. Minneapolis police officers are responsible for the death of the African-American. Floyd lost his life on May 25.

“[James] posted me speaking, and I text him back, I say, ‘I appreciate you, bro. I won’t let you down,'” Jackson told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears during an Instagram Live session Monday. “He text me back, ‘You haven’t, and I won’t either.’ That was deep. I always tell people, [Michael] Jordan might be the best basketball player, but LeBron is the greatest athlete ever. It’s bigger than basketball with me why I love LeBron.”

Jackson has voiced his support in the past few days. He has been a leading power in the aftermath of Floyd’s death. Floyd died after Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin pinned him to the ground. The former police officer knelt on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. The unfortunate man was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. An independent autopsy confirmed that Chauvin is responsible for Floyd’s death.

The 2003 NBA Champion was friends with Floyd. They even called each other “twins.” Jackson delivered a very important speech during a rally in honor of his “twin” at Minneapolis City Hall on Friday.

Jackson also said during his convo with Spears that he was just trying to get justice.

LeBron has voiced his support for peaceful protesters. He uses his accounts to raise general awareness and open a long-forgotten topic. Floyd’s death won’t just disappear. Many interpret it as a sign.
