Stephon Gilmore Explains What Makes Him Such a Great Player

Stephon Gilmore is an excellent player in the league. He has helped the Patriots’ defense make the top, and the team will really use him in 2020. What makes Gilmore such a good player? He blankets rivals without any problem. Gilmore was also the Defensive Player of the Year in 2019. Gilmore talked about this during his conversation with NFL Films’ Brian Baldinger.

The Patriot and the offensive linemen checked out some of the 2019 tape to determine the skills he has to shut down rivals. The cornerback has the ability to recognize patterns and read assignments. He also studies players’ strengths and weaknesses. Gilmore also knows his role on the Patriots’ defense and relies on his teammates in the secondary. Gilmore has great performance, and he is the best cornerback in the NFL. What’s his secret?

“It takes a lot of hard work during training camp and during the season to get better and better every game, because nobody is playing his best football in Week 1. You get better and learn about yourself, learn about your teammates. You take it all in and just try to improve your game each and every week,” Gilmore said in the segment.

The Patriots superstar also said that he does film study on the next pass catchers on his list. “There’s probably not one route that I haven’t seen.”

The Patriots will rely on Gilmore in September. Bill Belichick will use him as a shutdown cornerback on the outside. He has been doing this since the very same moment he joined the organization three years ago. Most of the defensive backs will return in Foxboro in September. The Patriots’ defense will have luck again, and they will win the top again. In 2019, the Pats had the strongest defense. Will the same thing happened in 2020?

Gilmore is an excellent contributor and the Patriots will need every bit of his talent. 2020 is a challenging season for every Patriots player. They will rely on Gilmore, Julian Edelman, the McCourty twins and other veterans to win games. TB12 is no longer a Patriot, and his absence may affect the game.
