The Story of LeBron James Breaking His Hand in The NBA Finals

Remember what happened when JR Smith made a terrible mistake during the NBA Finals? It all ended up with LeBron James breaking his hand. He was so frustrated that he hit a blackboard with his hand.

Smith’s blunder in the final moments was a big stimulus. The Cleveland Cavaliers made a few bold moves during the game. George Hill had a couple of free throws, but he missed the second one. Smith snatched the rebound and went out the clock instead of having a go-ahead ball. The team lost the game, and LeBron was pretty angry. What did he do? He went straight to the locker room and punched the blackboard. Yes, his frustration was that big.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and many others discussed the situation. Now we get to know the full story behind LeBron’s frustration.

LeBron James breaking his hand was the last scenario Cleveland needed

In the post-game press conference, LeBron confirmed that he hurt himself. Well, he didn’t explain what really happened.

“What happened? Self-inflicted, post-game after Game 1. Very emotional, for a lot of different reasons. Understanding how important Game 1 is on the road for our ballclub, what would that have done for us. The way we played, the calls that was made throughout the course of that game, I had emotions on the game was taken away from us. I had emotions of you just don’t get opportunities like this on the road, versus Golden State, to be able to get a Game 1. And I let the emotions get the best of me. I pretty much played the last three games with a broken hand, so that’s what it is.”

LeBron had every right to feel this way. He was carrying his team on his shoulders. Kyrie Irving was not there. He was averaging 34 points, 10 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game with 52% shooting. King James had brilliant stats, but it wasn’t enough for the Cavaliers to defeat Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and the other players on the Golden State Warriors roster.

LeBron was hurt, but his numbers confirm that his game was impeccable. We hope to see similar performance in Disney World when the season resumes.
