Cam Newton Talks About Being Tom Brady’s Replacement As Patriots Quarterback

Newly-acquired Patriots quarterback Cam Newton will have a big role with the team in September. Of course, head coach Bill Belichick will have to give him the starting role in the upcoming season. Newton is here to tell everyone that he has enough motivation to prove doubters wrong. He uses his social media to deliver a message, and the world is well aware of it.

The Patriots may use Newton as a replacement for six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. It’s a big bite to swallow, and the former Panthers quarterback referred to it as “the elephant in the room.”

“You know who (you’re) coming after? I’m like, yeah, great. What he was, what he is, is great, needs no even talking about it,” Newton said. “But one thing about it though: Coach (Josh) McDaniels, you’re able to call some stuff that you ain’t ever been able to call now. You’re getting a dog. You’re getting one of these ticked off dogs, too. And I’m looking at the schedule and I’m like ‘Who we’re playing? That team passed on me! OK, that team passed on me. They could’ve came and got me.’”

The Patriots have a strong quarterback

Newton has yet to hold a introductory news conference. He signed his deal with the Patriots on July 8. The quarterback made the remarks during a roundtable discussion on YouTube wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., running back Todd Gurley and former NFL receiver Victor Cruz.

They talked about several topics, including the coronavirus pandemic, the BLM protests and their next moves.

Newton also talked about the moment when he found out about Belichick’s interest in him. his agent called him during a workout, saying that the Patriots want him. “I said, ‘Hold on, how’s me and Belichick going to mesh?’ Because it’s like perception.”

Newton has played through a lot of injuries in his career, and Beckham respects that. The quarterback will have a big role with the Patriots in 2020. Pairing him with Belichick is a big move for the team, and he is ready to take the challenge. 2020 will be full of challenges for Newton and his new home.
