Chase Winovich is ready for the Patriots challenge

Winovich has spent just a year in the NFL but he made the most out of his debut with the team. He played in all possible games during his rookie year and became a key player of the Patriots’ pass-rushing rotation and special teams unit. Winovich’s early success as a pro is actually a continuation of the final two years at the University of Michigan. Winovich has established himself as a starter along the defensive edge of the Wolverines.

The player saw only limited playing time in his first three years in Ann Arbor and then broke out during his 2017 junior campaign. In the next two years, Winovich started 26 games and had great numbers. He registered 13.0 sacks and 13 additional quarterback hits. Wino also forced two fumbles while recovering three.

Winovich was named to the All-Big Ten team on two occasions and earned second-team All-American honors in the fifth-year senior season. He could accomplish this thanks to his high motor and technical approach. That’s why the Patriots selected him 77th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

In his rookie campaign with the Patriots, Winovich had a big role in the rotation along the defensive edge. He played an outside linebacker and appeared in all regular and playoff games.
