Ex-Patriots Exec Makes Cam Newton Prediction For 2020 Season

Head coach Bill Belichick will have to find the right way to use Cam Newton in 2020. How will the Patriots add Newton in their winning formula? Numerous sources confirmed that Newton will sign a deal with the team. This comes at the right time as the Patriots were left without a starting quarterback. Tom Brady is part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now, and the Patriots have to find a replacement for him. Is Newton the right guy?

The former Carolina Panthers quarterback has sustained a lot of injuries. His 2019 season was full of injuries, and this had a serious effect on his performance. According to recent reports, Newton is healthy now, and he will compete with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer for the starting job in New England.

A division rival head coach said that the Patriots will use Newton in a unique way because they like Jarrett Stidham.

Cam Newton will do well in 2020

Former NFL general manager and Patriots executive Mike Lombardi went on his “The GM Shuffle” podcast to say that if healthy, Newton will win the Comeback Player of the Year in 2020.

“You talk about 2015, great, that was the MVP season, but if you really study 2018 and examining those eight games … he was sensational,” Lombardi said, via Radio.com. “In ’18, he threw 15 touchdown passes and four interceptions before the shoulder injury… he was electrifying. He was only sacked 12 times in those eight games which was really low for the Carolina Panthers with their offensive line. So book those numbers and then add in the Josh McDaniels factor … you’re probably looking at 4,200 yards, you’re probably looking at 750 rushing… and if he stays healthy, he’s going to get Comeback Player of the Year.

Newton may be trying to get his little revenge. He has so much to work on at the moment, and yes, he will probably try to prove doubters wrong. Newton is a talented player and he will probably try to convince head coach Bill Belichick that he did the right decision. He was an NFL MVP in 2015, and that’s exactly what the Patriots need for the upcoming season.
