JR Smith Has Strong Words for LeBron James in First Lakers Comments

JR Smith hasn’t played an NBA game in a long time and now he will be sharing the locker room with LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers got the talented sharpshooter as a replacement for Avery Bradley. The NBA season will resume at the end of this month, and Smith will be right there, playing with his teammates. Smith has played a lot of games with LeBron James. This means that they know each other well.

Smith talked to media members for the first time since coming to LA. He delivered a big message and had really strong words for the king of basketball.

“It’s kind of illuminating for a lot of those people who don’t know how to challenge authority in that ‘situation.’ But that’s something I’ve never really had a problem with,” Smith said.

JR Smith is ready to win

King James is an amazing leader and he is the best basketball player of all time. LeBron and Smith won a championship together with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They sure have the ability to bring out the best in each other.

The Lakers will use Smith to finish the regular season. Maybe they will give him another chance for the upcoming season. He is 34 and he may easily play for a few more years. Well, he doesn’t really think about that at the moment. The only thing that pops in his mind is the next win. That’s the only thing that matters at the moment.

“For me, I just take it a day at a time,” Smith said. “Literally, a breath at a time because I’ve been out for a while and being around and being in an environment is so refreshing and much needed, so I try not to focus on that part. I try to take it day by day and enjoy the moment as much as I can because, at the end of the day, I was just gone for a while.

“For being somebody who has been around the league for predominantly most of their adult life, when that’s taken away from you, it kind of gives you that culture shock, which you obviously don’t know what you’ve lost until it’s gone. So for me, more than anything, I just want to appreciate the moment for what it is, and whether it be next year or never again, I just want to enjoy every possible moment I get.”

JR Smith was depressed before joining LeBron James

If Smith plays well with the team, they may consider using him next season. Fans remember the NBA Finals in which Smith tried to call a timeout at the end of the game. The Cavaliers didn’t have any and it was a “boneheaded play.” Smith has only seen action in 11 games since that play. The Lakers want him and they can sure use his talents this time.

Smith explained that he went through “a very depressed state for a long time.” He had a few difficult months. It was hard because he was a big gamer. It was so hard that he didn’t even want to play 2k anymore.

It was tough. It was extremely tough, but fortunately, I have a great foundation with my parents. My dad has always been on me about what I accomplished and what I still have left in the tank and stuff like that, so, fortunately, if it wasn’t for them, I would probably still be in that situation.”

Today, things look a lot different for Smith. His experience with LeBron will be of great help for the team.

The Lakers will meet Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers in the first game in Orlando.
