Louis Riddick Releases Statement On Bill Belichick-Cam Newton Relationship

The New England Patriots will have a new starting back in September. Tom Brady left the team in free agency and signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Head coach Bill Belichick will now work with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Oh wait, maybe he will put Cam Newton on the field in September. The former Carolina Panthers quarterback talked to Todd Gurley, Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz about his new role in New England. ESPn analyst and former safety Louis Riddick made a statement about this.

Riddick would gladly tell Newton that the Patriots head coach doesn’t need to mesh with him. This has nothing to do with perception. The only thing Newton has to do is mind his business and do his job.

“I could just picture Bill reading that quote and looking at it like, ‘How are we going to mesh? What do you mean how are we going to mesh? I’m Bill Belichick. This is my team,’” Riddick said on ESPN’s Get Up. “‘We’ll mesh by you just doing your job. We’ll mesh by you coming in here, putting in the extra work, learning this offense, getting together with Josh McDaniels and myself and figuring out how we can get you up to speed to highlight your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. We’ll mesh if you’re winning football games.’”

Newton signed a one-year deal with the Patriots. He has to show everyone that he can perform at high level. Newton can win a title with the Patriots, and he can easily get a bigger job in 2021. The quarterback is set to hit the open market, and the Patriots may want to keep him around for a really long time.

Will Belichick get another chance if Newton fails to perform?

Many analysts thought that second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham will replace Tom Brady. He has great talent and maybe he will work better for the Patriots offense.

Journeyman veteran Brian Hoyer is also in the mix. He will get a chance to compete, but most analysts believe that Belichick will use him as a Plan C option.

“Having played for Bill, I can tell you this: It is not—and I repeat—it is not for everyone,” explained Riddick. “He puts pressure on you in a way to which you have never seen before. A lot of coaches talk about holding you accountable. Bill holds you accountable to the point where you question if this profession is really for you, and you will find out how good you can possibly be with him.”

Newton has to be on the same page with head coach Belichick. That’s the only thing he should focus on at the moment.
