NFL Writer Points This Patriots Player As First-Time Pro Bowler In 2020

Joe Thuney got his highest on-field achievement last season and he was named to the All-Pro second team. How will Thuney fit in the Patriots roster in 2020?

NFL writer Marc Sessler discussed Thuney’s success and his football success. In his column written for NFL.com on Monday, Sessler picked a “prime candidate” for each team in the AFC to make the first trip to the Pro Bowl in the upcoming season. Thuney had the honor for the New England Patriots.

The Patriots are ready for 2020

Thuney has been of great help for the Patriots in the past few seasons.

“With 64 uninterrupted starts over his first four seasons, Thuney is nothing short of a Bill Belichick fever dream,” Sessler wrote. “Finishing last season as one of just three offensive linemen to play 600-plus snaps without a penalty, Thuney was graded by PFF as the league’s fifth-best player at his position and turned heads by netting the club’s franchise tag this offseason instead of escaping to fill-in-the-blank lesser franchise in free agency. With Cam Newton at the ready, New England’s much-anticipated nosedive is on hold. To the wayward gaggle of voters who made Thuney a Pro Bowl snub a year ago, I leave you with these words from Lorca: THE LIVING IGUANAS WILL COME AND BITE THE MEN WHO DO NOT DREAM.”

Thuney’s first Pro Bowl season with the team may be his last go-around with the Pats. If they don’t reach an agreement regarding the Thuney’s long-term contract extension by Wednesday, the player will see action under the franchise tag in the upcoming season. Thuney has a chance to become a free agent in 2019. How will the Patriots handle this situation?

Thuney had a big role on the roster, and he has helped the Patriots win a lot of important games. He will have great mportance in the upcoming season, and head coach Bill Belichick sure shares the same opinion.

The Patriots will enter a challenging season and they will play without their star quarterback. Cam Newton is set to step in as a replacement for Brady. Game on, Pats!
