Randy Moss Gives His Take On Patriots’ Replacing Tom Brady With Cam Newton

The New England Patriots will play their first season without quarterback Tom Brady for the first time in two decades. Brady helped the team win six Super Bowls, and now he will try winning games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. Many thought that he would choose either Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer for the starting job in September. Well, Cam Newton was thrown in the mix. The Patriots signed the 2015 NFL MVP and analysts say that he will replace TB12. What does Randy Moss say about Cam Newton and Tom Brady?

Moss is definitely a fan of Newton and he likes the idea of seeing him in Foxboro. He even believes that the Patriots have a chance to make a Super Bowl run if the newly-acquired quarterback can fix his accuracy. That’s the only thing he should work on.

“Being able to have an athletic and mobile quarterback, that’s something that the Patriots haven’t seen in a long time,” Moss said. “But now, you’re getting an athletic and mobile quarterback, so the only question that we have is, ‘How accurate will Cam Newton be?’ If Cam Newton is accurate with that football, you’re talking about getting back up there for another MVP, possible Super Bowl run. I’m here for that.”

Randy Moss has a specific opinion for Tom Brady

Moss spent four seasons with Brady. He explained that adding Newton to the Patriots offense will boost the unit. In fact, Newton may be a better fit than TB12. Newton can run the ball.

“I think we are getting ready to really see how fun that offense can really be,” Moss said. “Not discrediting anything Tom accomplished, because he accomplished some great things, but I think being able to have a guy like Cam Newton that can run the ball, they are able to spread guys out, and then being able to be that viable threat in the passing game that he can just tuck the ball and run.”

During his time with the Patriots, TB12 has only rushed for 1,037 yards. Newton has rushed for 1,052 yards in the last three years alone. Let’s not forget that he only played two games in 2019.

“I just think that what we’ve seen coming out of New England for the past, let’s say 20 years, there is going to be a change in New England,” Moss said. “But I think we are going to see them have a lot more fun out there and Cam Newton is going to give them that opportunity for the fans, not just the New England Patriots fans, but the football fans just around the world to really see how fun this offense can really be.”
