Report: Lakers’ LeBron James Played Part In Signing of JR Smith

The Los Angeles Lakers relied on LeBron James regarding the signing of JR Smith. Avery Bradley confirmed his decision to skip the NBA return, and the Lakers added Smith as his replacement. It was an official decision, and the Lakers are more than satisfied.

Before the suspension of the regular season, the Lakers made a big signing to strengthen the bench. They added Dion Waiters. He has already played with LeBron. The four-time NBA MVP has seen a huge role in the signings for the team ever since he became a Laker. Smith was just another player to be added, thanks to his connection with LeBron.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel had a Zoom call with media members, and talked about Smith’s deal and his connection with LeBron.

“In terms of what he brings to the table, just the experience factor,” Vogel said. “This guy is a big-time player. He’s proven it over the course of his career. We know he can help us.”

LeBron had a big role in the signing of JR Smith

Smith has an experience with LeBron, and this played a huge role in his signing.

“That was a factor,” Vogel added. “His familiarity with LeBron and the way we built our team obviously around LeBron. There’s a lot of similarities with the way they did things in Cleveland. That definitely is a factor in what we feel J.R. can bring to the table in what is going to be a very short time to get acclimated.”

Smith was a frontrunner to join the Lakers ever since the NBA nnounced that teams can be expanded. Bradley is out, and this gave Smith a chance to play with the Lakers. The Lakers want to win a title, and Smith is a perfect fit.

“We almost added him earlier in the year when we added Dion Waiters, and now we have the luxury of having both,” Vogel said.

Smith hasn’t played an entire season, but the Lakers are convinced that they have made the right choice. Let’s see how will they enter the bubble. With a big win? The Lakers are packed with talent now.
