Report: Lakers’ Rajon Rondo Suffers a Significant Hand Injury

The Los Angeles Lakers will play without Rajon Rondo following his thumb injury. The veteran guard broke his right thumb during practice Sunday night in Orlando, Florida. According to several reports, including the organization, Rondo will join his teammates in 6-8 weeks.

The veteran will have to undergo a surgery as soon as possible. This surgery will fix his fracture, and hopefully, everything will turn well at the end.

The Los Angeles Lakers traveled to Orlando on Thursday night for the NBA return. They had the very first practice on Saturday.

Rondo signed a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018. He missed time during the previous season after having separate surgeries to fix his fractured third metacarpal in the right hand and a torn ligament in the right ring finger.

Rajon Rondo will miss time due to his injury

The veteran is averaging 7.1 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds per game with the Lakers for the season. Rondo has played in 48 games for th eLakers and has started in three.

The Lakers will play without starting guard Avery Bradley. He decided to pass on the chance to join the team in Orlando due to coronavirus concerns for the family. LA signed JR Smith as his replacement and he will join LeBron James and the team for the remainder of the season.

Lakers players will use the chance to deliver a message. LeBron James and Anthony Davis will keep their last name stitched on the back of the jersey. “I think the name Davis is something that I try to represent every time I try to step on the floor, my family,” Davis said during a video conference.

Losing Rondo won’t be of great help for the team, and seeing him off the floor for two decades is horrible. The team hoped to have him in Orlando, but it looks like they will have to find a replacement for the veteran. Let’s see how will the Lakers fix the problem. Rondo is out. Who will join the Lakers as a replacement? Things got really hot in Orlando, and the situation is not good.
